Toilet Paper Roll Halloween Countdown

I know we're already a few days into October, but it's never too late to start a fun Halloween countdown with your kids.  We do this every year, and it's just as much fun for me as it is for my boys.  It is a bit of work, but I love how it motivates me to do those activities I'd probably never get around to doing.

This countdown is so simple to make, and it uses something we all have plenty of- toilet paper rolls.  It did take me awhile to save up enough rolls, but you could just use one toilet paper roll and switch the number off the front each day (like I did in my back to school countdown) if you don't have 31 rolls sitting around.   BTW, let other people know you collect toilet paper rolls (if you do).  You're collection will grow quickly!  My sweet dad brings paper towel and toilet paper rolls each time I see him.  I have a bag full ready to go whenever I need.

HOW TO 

Measure your scrapbook paper (I found all of mine at Hobby Lobby) to fit the toilet paper rolls.  I've learned the hard way that not all toilet paper rolls are created equally, so measure each one to be sure.  Cut your paper, then wrap it around the toilet paper roll and tape it in the back. 

Next, cut out your numbers.  I used orange card stock to cut  my numbers out with the Cricut Classic Font Cartridge.  I also added a bit of glitter to each number.  Finally, attach each number to your toilet paper roll.

After the outside of your roll is complete, you can put your goodie bags (I buy mine at Dollar Tree) together.  We have a treat and message inside each bag.  You could put whatever you'd like inside.  I stuff the goodie bag in the toilet paper roll, and then put a bit of tissue paper on top to finish it off.

So easy, and so fun!  We love countdowns at our house, but I have to say our Halloween one is probably the favorite.
